NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY 13- WHAT I BOUGHT!
Okay, I’m still not back on track yet, with New Comics Wednesdays. These weekly cons have me running a week behind. I managed to make it to the shop to pick up last week’s comics just before leaving for Kansas City for Planet Comicon.
It was a good week. Just right, really. A great combination of “Big 2” books along with a nice handful of creator owned titles.
As usual I’m listing everything I bought and highlighting some covers that really stood out to me as well as books that I think really deserve some attention.
CAPTAIN AMERICA #615.1
NEW MUTANTS #23
ASTONISHING SPIDER-MAN & WOLVERINE #5
CAPTAIN AMERICA & BATROC THE LEAPER #1
DAREDEVIL: REBORN #3
DEADPOOL MAX #6
ULTIMATE DOOM #4
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #156
UNCANNY X-FORCE #6
THE 6TH GUN #10
I’m done with cons for a few weeks, so I should be able to get things back on track. Expect this week’s New Comics Wednesday in just a couple short days.
Thanks for checking in!

ECCC 2011 PHOTO BLOG!
I love Emerald City Comic Con. It’s been a few years since I’d been able to make it up for the show, so I couldn’t wait to really kick “con season” off right. ECCC is an excellent show in a beautiful city. It’s easily one of the highlights of what is turning out to be a great year for cons.
So here is my quick photo blog from the trip. I won’t blather on too much. Hopefully a bit of the fun I had shows through. Enjoy!
Leaving town. In line for a coffee for the drive to the airport in KC.
On the con floor. This great toy booth with an AMAZING, giant Green Lantern power battery on top of their booth.
Lines forming at the convention center.
Another hotel view.
Walking to breakfast with the Top Cow crew.
An absolutely delicious breakfast at this little French place near the market.
The convention center.
Quite a crowd for day one of the show!
The Top Cow booth. I’ve worked on two of the books featured on those banners.
Every year ECCC does a gorgeous book called Monsters and Dames, featuring work from some of the best talents in comics. The proceeds go to the Seattle Children’s Hospital. This is a shot of my contribution.
Me at the booth. Looking like I do…
Raven pre-order watercolor commission.
Jason Todd pre order watercolor commission.
Simon and Pat.
Shane White. Talented goofass.
Pat and Simon. Also goofasses.
Desire commission. Done in pens and Copic markers.
Lemon Drop martini at the Metropolitan Grill. Such an amazing meal. Easily one of the best steaks I’ve ever had.
At the Metropolitan Grill with the Top Cow crew. Filip and his lovely wife Danielle chat with Ron Marz.
A delicious spanish omelette.
Heh heh heh. The Joker, done in pens and Copic markers.
Wonder Woman pre order watercolor painting.
Beat to hell Joker. Done in pens and Copic markers. People tend to see a piece I’m working on and want the same thing. Doing silly stuff like having characters beat on a bit keeps things interesting.
Warlock. Done in brush pen and Copic markers. This was my last commission of the show. Done in about 15 minutes, moments before ECCC ’11 came to a close.
Beautiful view from the walkway.
Packed up and ready to go.
Another great view at the amazing architecture of the convention center. I love those lines.
Nelson Blake II and Ron Marz chat after the con.
One of the best guys in comics. Top Cow publisher and my pal Filip Sablik. Look at that grin.
Nighttime hotel view.
In line at the airport in Seattle.
In the shuttle on the way from the airport to my car. By this point I’m just ready to be home.
I had such a great time in Seattle. If you haven’t had the chance to make it to the show, do yourself and find a way to get to ECCC. You won’t be sorry.
Okay, that’s it for this one. I’ve got a lot more stuff to put up over the next few weeks. I’m definitely a little behind thanks of all of the traveling. I’ll get caught up soon, though! I promise.
As always, thanks for stopping by!

KC FANCON PHOTO BLOG!
A few weeks ago I went up to Kansas City for the KC Fancon. It’s a fun little show that I go to every year. I always end up doing a lot of sketches and have a great time. It’s a great chance to support comics in the area. Here are a few shots of my setup and sketches from the con. At really small shows like this I charge a lot less and do them a little faster than I do at bigger cons. Still, I’m really happy with the way most of the sketches turned out.
My table packed to the gills with all kinds of Jeremy loot!
Okay, so I was taking a nap before the show…shaddup!
So there you have it. Some pretty fun stuff. I’m going to try to put up more collections of con sketches after shows. I’m certainly going to a lot of them over the next few months. Look for more soon!

SPIVA GALLERY SHOW/RECEPTION!
I was recently invited to Missouri Southern State University to talk about my work and comics in general with the art department and anyone else interested in listening to me ramble. It was a great time.
Along with that, the art department asked if I’d be interested in an exhibition of my work at the MSSU Spiva Art Gallery. Thanks to my crazy con schedule, rather than a show opening we did a closing reception on Friday, March 11.
Here are a few shots of the reception.
Comic artists don’t get to have many exhibits of their work. The show at Spiva was a great experience. I’m grateful that I got to do it.
Look for more fun stuff over the next couple of weeks. I’ve got photo blogs from a couple of conventions, a painting process blog or two, some desk shots, a few sneak peeks, and the usual gobbledygook.

CONVENTION SCHEDULE 2011!
I’ve been intending to put this up for months now. I’ve had a lot of people telling me that they didn’t know that I was going to be at a show, lately. Should have done this earlier. Sorry. I’m a forgetful, busy bastard. Still, hopefully this will help out for the rest of the “season”.
MARCH 18-20 C2E2 (Chicago, IL)
MARCH 26-27 PLANET COMICON (Overland Park, KS)
JUNE 3-5 HEROES CON (Charlotte, NC)
JULY 21-24 COMIC CON INTERNATIONAL (San Diego, CA)
OCTOBER 13-16 NEW YORK COMIC CON (New York, NY)
There are a couple more shows that I’ll probably be attending, schedule permitting. I’ll be sure to post updates to this list when/if anything changes. Looking forward to seeing everyone at one or another of these.

C2E2 UPDATE! (ARTIST ALLEY BOOTH C-13)
Hey, all! Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on C2E2 this weekend.
I’ll be at ARTIST ALLEY BOOTH C-13!
–Sketch List: I will be doing head and shoulder sketches for $40. They will be done in ink with copic marker color.
They’ll look something like this.
PLEASE NOTE: Sketches are first come first serve. My list fills up pretty quickly each day. In order to make sure that everyone gets one, I’m doing these head and shoulder sketches. But they’re awesome, so it’s worth it!
–Original Artwork: I’ll have a wide array of my work at the table, including art from–GOTHAM CITY SIRENS, RED HOOD, DETECTIVE COMICS and more. I’ve also got a few of my watercolor pieces available, including my Zatanna watercolor piece (featured here on the site) and my ECCC Monsters and Dames watercolor piece.
In addition I’ve brought along a big stack of $25 pages. This features a TON of stuff from nearly every book I’ve done over the past couple of years. While these pages might not feature big images of main characters it’s still REALLY good stuff. It might be the best deal at the show!
–CREDIT CARDS: Wanting to buy pages, but don’t have the cash on hand? Thanks the the wonders of iphone technology magic, I can now accept credit cards. I’m using the SQUARE program. It is an absolutely safe and secure system that I’ve purchased stuff with myself. So see, now it’s even easier to buy my swag.
So there you have it, my C2E2 updates. I’m sure I’m forgetting something.
It’s going to be a great show! If you’re at the con come by BOOTH C-13 and say “hi!”.

IN FLIGHT DESK SHOT 2!
I had a lot of fun last time I did an in flight desk shot, on the way out to LA. So I thought instead of sleeping like I usually do (I sleep on planes a lot. From take off to landing.) I thought I’d whip out my sketchbook and do something I rarely get to do anymore, just doodle. This time, I thought it would be fun to draw some crazy Darklings.
This was done in my 8.5 x 12 Moleskine Sketchbook with a Tombow Dual Brush Pen. The Tombow pens are nice and easy to use. The felt brush tip kind of wears out pretty fast. I love the idea of Moleskine sketchbooks more than I end up liking working in them. There’s something a little odd about the paper. It doesn’t seem to take a lot of pens very well. Like in this instance, the ink seems a bit washed out.
So there you go. Hope you enjoyed it. I’ll try and do another one on the way home.

DOMINO C2E2 PRE-ORDER SKETCH!
It’s been a busy BUSY week for me, so I haven’t been able to post much until now. I thought I’d do ahead and put up a look at one of the pre-order sketches I did for C2E2. I only ended up remembering to scan it after the inks and color. I intended to show the pencils, too. Sorry about that. In the end, I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. I hope you guys like it too!
Well, I’ve got to board a plane. I’m on my way to C2E2. Look for more updates soon!

Shhhhhhh. You didn’t see this. And it in NO way is a tiny peek at the Artifacts #12 cover. No, not at all.
