INSTAGRAM 6!

It's been a while since I've done and Instagram blog.  I'm still absolutely in love with this iphone app. My gallery of images has grown to over one thousand photos. It's going to take me a while to get them a posted. Still it's something I love and would like to share with you.

This set features some of the time between the Emerald City Comic Con and C2E2, then into my trip to Chicago for C2E2.  Probably my favorite single image is a close up of pea sized hail that came down from a freak little hailstorm we had one Sunday afternoon.

Chubby rain.

All hail!

Looking down at my studio and the hail covered craziness.

It's a Mexican food kind of evening.

Owee and the hat.

On the road again.

Old pump station between Joplin and Pittsburg Kansas.

Got to the airport on time and everything!

Waiting to board.

The Room.

The view.

Walking from the hotel to grab a bite to eat.

Gino's menu.

Decided to have a Blue Moon before pizza at Gino's East.

Gino's East truly AMAZING Chicago style pizza.  It's the cornmeal crust that does it.

Reading comics in bed.

Arriving at C2E2!

My stuff!  C2E2 artist alley booth C-13

The ever lurking editor.

That's it for this set of Instagram shots. I hope you enjoyed it.

I'm going to go ahead and start regularly posting new sets every Sunday. Hope you dig em!

Thanks!

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY 18- WHAT I BOUGHT!

It was a fairly light, but good week this time around.  It's really been a while since I got out of Hurley's Heroes with a stack this small.

Given my crazy work schedule, as I prepare for vacation, I haven't been able to read any of these yet. I'll probably get to most of them tonight before bed.

I'm REALLY excited about the conclusion of this American Vampire story arc. I absolutely love the book. I'm also looking forward to a lot of the Marvel books that came out this week. Hickman is absolutely crushing on FF. It's easily one of the best runs on the Fantastic Four.  Hell of a lot of fun.  Oh, and I'm also really excited to check out the second issue of Graveyard of Empires. Mark Sable and Paul Azaceta are friends of mine.  They've been talking about the book for a while. Still, somehow this book snuck up on me. I really dug it and was shocked by the twist at the end of the first issue. It's going to be a great series. I highly recommend it!

NEW COMICS WEDNESDAY 17- WHAT I BOUGHT!

It's been too long since I've had a New Comics Wednesday. Between the storm, getting life back to normal, and catching up on the ever piling mountain of work, I haven't had a lot of time to focus on some of the fun stuff, like sharing what books I'm buying.  Things are getting a bit more back to normal. I'm starting to slowly catch up on things. So here I am, back again, giving it the college try.

This week is going to be light on commentary.  I just picked up this HUGE stack of comics goodness, this afternoon.  I was a little behind on picking stuff up, so I think a few of these books came out last week.  Still, it's what I bought this week.

As usual, I'm tossing up some of my favorite covers and listing everything in the stack.

That's it for this week.  Check back again next week.  I'll try to read as many as possible beforehand and comment a bit more on which books I'm particularly loving.

As always, help support the books and creators you love and your local comic shops by not illegally downloading comics.  Stealing is shitty.

Thanks

DARKNESS #27 COVER SNEAK PEEK!

I don't have permission to show off the whole cover, but I thought I'd go ahead and show the background "patch" illustration.

Most of the time, when I'm working on a cover I draw it all as one piece.  This time around, midway through, I decided I wanted to add another element to the page.  I wasn't QUITE sure if it was going to work.  It was pretty involved and could pretty easily throw off the composition.

I wanted to represent the entity of The Darkness.  The Darkness has always kind of felt like it had one foot in a Lovecraft story, so it was fun play with some of those elements.  The patch was done in pencil on a piece of 500 series semi smooth Strahmore Bristol board and then inked with a .01 micron pen to give it a nice uniform, open line quality. I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

I can't wait to show you the full cover.  I'll put it up just as soon as I can.  Until then, I hope you enjoy this preview!

Thanks
