![]() Welcome to jeremyhaun.com the place for all things Jeremy. Saturday, October 15, 201130 DAY PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE! (DAY 25)So it's day twenty five of the 30 Day Photography Challenge and I've got to be honest...I'm exhausted. I've had a BIT too much fun this evening, so this is going to be short and sweet.
Today's challenge- A Photo Of Whatever You Please ![]() I grabbed this shot of my buddy and editor, Filip Sablik as we ascended the stairs, after a nice dinner in the West Village. If he ever records a spoken word album, I think I have his cover. Be sure and check back tomorrow as I continue to post challenges from NYC. It should be a good time! If you'd like to learn a bit more about the 30 Day Photography Challenge, possibly join in on the good times, or just check out some of my pal Melodie's rather marvelous photography, go to her blog- http://www.mellowyellowphotography.blogspot.com/ See you tomorrow.

Friday, October 14, 201130 DAY PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE! (DAY 24)Well, it's day twenty four of the 30 Day Photography Challenge. It was my first full day in New York City and we did it RIGHT. Along the way, I took a ton of fun new shots.
Today's Challenge- A Photo That Has A Color Scheme ![]() Working with a color scheme can be a lot of fun. Sometimes it's just there set up and staring you in the face, like with today's shot. Other times you really have to work at it in what you allow into the frame and then even more-so in editing. I kind of lucked out with this shot. I was walking along the street downtown near Madison Square Park and saw these amazing zip tie art pieces on lightpoles. I thought they were a lot of fun so I snapped a few shots. With this one, I realized that I actually had a great shot using a color scheme. The red and yellow ties were perfect for a warm color scheme. It wasn't until later when I imported the shots that I realized that I had an even better example of a color scheme. With the added blue of the building and other elements in the background I actually had a really nice triadic primary color scheme. Sometimes you get lucky and get a nice pic. Be sure and check back tomorrow as I continue to post challenges from NYC. It should be a good time! If you're looking for a little color in your life and want to learn a bit more about the 30 Day Photography Challenge, possibly join in on the fun, or just check out some of my pal Melodie's beautifully colored photography, go to her blog- http://www.mellowyellowphotography.blogspot.com/ See you tomorrow.

Wednesday, October 12, 201130 DAY PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE! (DAY 23)I'm posting the twenty third installment of the 30 Day Photography Challenge from my room in NYC! It's been a long day with lots of travel. We left Joplin around 6:30 am and ended up arriving here after 4:00pm. Now, we've had a good meal, a glass or two of wine and are winding down before things kick into high gear tomorrow. But anyway, back to the the shot.
Today's Challenge- A Photo That Makes You Think Of Your Childhood. ![]() It's pretty obvious that I love comic books. They're a big part of my life. Always have been. In the late 70s and early 80s I became obsessed with comics. I would scour flea markets and anxiously await a new shipment at the local dime store. I drew them over and over. Eventually, somehow, that love lead me to where I am today. Comics have also always been a part of my six year old son, Ethan's life. He's always gotten his stack of kids books when we go to the shop. Recently though he became obsessed with a lot of the old books I read as a kid: Iron Man, Thor, Batman. Something in him clicked. Maybe it is the fact that these were my books or that he knows how much I love them, but they've become his favorite things to read. The idea of my kid geeking out over Walt Simonson- Thor does my heart good. We've been reading through a lot of those old books together. I took a quick shot of some of them laying on the bed, before I left. Maybe it's just the nostalgia, but I really like the simplicity of it. I hope you do too. Be sure and check back tomorrow as I continue to post challenges from NYC. It should be a good time! So if you're in a nostalgic mood and want to learn a bit more about the 30 Day Photography Challenge, possibly join in on the good times, or just check out some of my pal Melodie's childlike (in the best of ways, I promise) photography, go to her blog- http://www.mellowyellowphotography.blogspot.com/ See you tomorrow.

Tuesday, October 11, 2011THE BEAUTY- FIVE PAGE PREVIEW! (NOW WITH COLOR!!!)A few days ago, I posted a black and white preview of the first five pages of THE BEAUTY, my upcoming Top Cow: Pilot Season book with co-writer Jason A. Hurley. Well, this week I've got a COLOR preview of those pages AND a special announcement-- we're going to have fifty copies of THE BEAUTY #1 brought in exclusively for NYCC!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm SO proud of the colors on this book. Our colorist, John Rauch REALLY got what I was wanting to do and brought more to this story than I could have ever asked for. John and I are going to be doing a LOT of work together in the near future. So there you have it. Do you really need any more reason to pick up THE BEAUTY? :) If you're going to be at the New York Comic Con this weekend, be sure and drop by the IMAGE/TOP COW booth and pick up a copy of THE BEAUTY and have Hurley and I sign it. It's going to be a good time! Thanks!

Tuesday, October 11, 201130 DAY PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE! (DAY 22)Its the day before I head to New York for the New York Comic Con. Ive got to be honest, The LAST thing on my mind today was the 30 Day Photography Challenge. This has been a lot of fun, but today really put the challenge in challenge. In spite of all of that, I still managed to get a shot. Not my best. Not my worst. And maybe...just MAYBE not the most on topic of challenges. Still, I gave it the old college try. I hope you dig it...at least a little.
Todays Challenge- A Photo Of The Person You Love. ![]() I cant think of a more lovable subject than todays model. Look at the way he sits there, exhausted, worn down by long hours of hard work and little sleep. Hes obviously got a lot on his mind. I like the way that the train in the background helps show exactly what hes been facing all day. Okay, sure, not the BEST example of THE PERSON YOU LOVE. Its not easy when you spend the day running all over town trying to get last minute printing and trip prep done. And lets face it, doesnt THE PERSON YOU LOVE kind of discount a LOT of people? I know, I know-- Im being difficult and rationalizing my shot. Still, in the end, its a pretty good shot ,and honestly, Im pretty fond of me. :) So if youre taking a break from getting that perfect self-shot and want to learn a bit more about the 30 Day Photography Challenge, possibly join in on the fun times, or just check out some of my pal Melodies not at all narcissistic photography, go to her blog- a title=http://www.mellowyellowphotography.blogspot.com/ href=http://www.mellowyellowphotography.blogspot.com/ target=_blankhttp://www.mellowyellowphotography.blogspot.com//a See you tomorrow...from the NYC!

Tuesday, October 11, 201130 DAY PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE! (DAY 21)Are there really only NINE DAYS left the 30 Day Photography Challenge? Wow. Craziness.
Today's challenge- A Photo Of the Sunset. ![]() I came pretty dangerously close to hurting myself to get this shot. It really wasn't smart. The sun was fading fast and the angle wasn't QUITE right... I found myself standing on my back porch railing, one hand hanging on to the overhang, the other trying to stay steady enough to get a nice shot. Somehow I didn't die. AND, on a good note, I managed to capture this pic of the sun, just as it sank behind the trees. I love the abstraction that the light caused-- the blown out areas and harsh silhouettes. I couldn't re-create this if I tried. I got lucky...with both the shot and the not breaking my fool head. Well, if you're laid up from some foolish act of daring and want to learn a bit more about the 30 Day Photography Challenge, possibly join in on moderately safe fun, or just check out some of my pal Melodie's head splitting photography, go to her blog- http://www.mellowyellowphotography.blogspot.com/ See you tomorrow.

Monday, October 10, 201130 DAY PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE! (DAY 20)ANOTHER ONE?!!? SERIOUSLY?? How the heck am I supposed to decide? Well, it's my birthday and I'm pouting a little because I'm having to choose which photo to use for today's installment of the 30 Day Photography Challenge.
Today's challenge-- A Photo Of Whatever You Please. ![]() Today was a lot of fun. We drove around, visited flea markets and antique malls. Along the way I took dozens of shots of, well, just about anything that caught my attention: bins of spoons, buckets of pool balls, old typewriters, anything. At the end of the day, I wound up with six possible choices for today's shot. Thanks to drinking too much birthday wine, I'm not sure that I was QUITE up to deciding which one was "it". After asking a few opinions and giving it a lot of thought, I decided to go with this one. It's pretty simple a shot of my boots and socks as I stand in the parking lot of a local grocery store. I liked the light and the general silliness of it all. Sometimes I wear different colored socks. It started with one sock or the other missing and just deciding to throw them together. Somewhere along the way, it was just fun. Add to that my Kenneth Cole boots-- they're probably my favorite footwear, pretty much ever. I don't know why, but it's my choice and I stick to it. Blame the wine. Blame getting a year older. Whatever. It's a nice time. Just a couple more days until I leave for New York. I'm a little nervous to finish this challenge away from home. I hope it works... So maybe you've had a little wine and want to learn a bit more about the 30 Day Photography Challenge, possibly join in on the obvious haphazard craziness, or just check out some of my pal Melodie's sober yet captivating photography, go to her blog- http://www.mellowyellowphotography.blogspot.com/ See you tomorrow.

Sunday, October 9, 201130 DAY PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE! (DAY 19)I'm almost running late again on day nineteen of the 30 Day Photography Challenge. Sorry about that. Yesterday's excursion and gearing up for the NYCC has my schedule flip flopped. I'm ALMOST on regular person hours for a while. :)
Today's challenge- A Photo That Involves Landscape. ![]() Road trips are always nice. With my work schedule I hadn't been able to get away and do some shooting in a while. After finishing up both Artifacts and The Beauty, I grabbed my camera, my iPhone, and headed south for fun and picture taking. Truth be told, it was just what the doctor ordered. This shot is one part challenge, one part nostalgia. Forgive me if I get a bit sappy as I talk about it. This landscape shot was taken in Anderson, Missouri the place where I spent a lot of my childhood. Those tiny specks in the distance are the rooftops of my Grandparent's farm. The farm stretches for acres and acres in every direction, is home to many animals and some of the best memories of my life. My brothers and I ran through those hills as boys and had every kind of adventure our imaginations could conjure. Fall was always the best time on the farm. The leaves would change. The air would get crisp and cool. It was amazing. I love that I was able to capture a few of the vivid changing colors of the season in this shot. I wish that I'd been able to get a little closer with this shot, but even the iPhone's zoom has it's limits. This pic makes me happy. That makes it a success in my book. If you're the inquisitive type and want to learn a bit more about the 30 Day Photography Challenge, possibly join in on moderately safe fun, or just check out some of my pal Melodie's nostalgic photography, go to her blog- http://www.mellowyellowphotography.blogspot.com/ See you tomorrow.

Friday, October 7, 201130 DAY PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE! (DAY 18)Has it really only been a day since I posted the last 30 Day Photography Challenge entry? Wow. That seems like a week ago. This is what sleep depravation does to you. Be warned.
Today's challenge- A Photo Depicting An Emotion ![]() Depicting emotion isn't easy. Sure it's easy to fake in a picture. Someone can look angry or sad. REALLY depicting emotion is a tough thing to achieve. To be honest, I wasn't sure that I was going to get this one. Thought I might have to fake it...or something. Earlier though, during bathtime I caught this quick shot of Owee. It's simple and maybe a bit manipulative, but he was sad because the water accidentally drained out of the tub. Yes, I suppose I'm a horrible father. I took the shot... Seconds later I redrew the bath and he was happy as it gets. ...I shot that too. It was a picture of a happy kid. But happy is easy. This is about emotion, dammit! We're not happy until someone is on the verge of tears. In the end this isn't some grand shot of lovers reunited after a war. It's not a shot of true loss. It's a picture of my little boy a bit sad and ready to cry over his bath water. I can live with the karmic hit. :) You should really learn a bit more about the 30 Day Photography Challenge, possibly join in on moderately safe fun, or just check out some of my pal Melodie's emotional (in a good way photography) and go to her blog- http://www.mellowyellowphotography.blogspot.com/ See you tomorrow.
