DINO DAY 8!
Dino Day 8! This one is for the road. I’m literally moments away from hopping into the car to the airport for Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle.
Since I’m still in crazy busy mode, this is another one done on the fast fast. I grabbed the first pen out of my holder (a LOOOOOOVELY Bic medium round stic) and started scribbling like mad. It was done on tiny 4×4 in bristol board.
I had a ton of fun drawing it.
Okay, that’s all the time I have today. Off to ECCC!
See you next week.

DINO DAY 7!
Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh. It’s Dino Day again!
This week I’m in full on, crazy deadline mode. I went to be exhausted last night feeling like I was forgetting something. This morning I shot bolt upright in bed and remembered that in my rush to finish up Batwoman, I hadn’t put pen to paper for Dino Day.
In spite of the craziness, today’s Dino Day challenge ended up being a bit of fun. I decided on two rules for the piece– it had to be in sharpie and it had to done in twelve minutes or less. Like a lot of artists I like using particular tools. I have a specific ink, pens, and paper I like to use. This was down and dirty. I snagged a fine tip Sharpie, a wedge tip Sharpie, and a sheet of printer paper. No time for fancy. No time for a pencil.
In the end, I love how loose this one is. It’s silly and fun– done without over-thinking or worrying about the final product. I hope you dig it too.
I’m going to get back to my Batwoman deadline– to my crow quill pens, nice ink, and cotton-y paper.
I’ll see you again next week.

DINO DAY 6!
Is it DINO DAY again? I’ve got to admit, I nearly missed this one.
It’s been a busy week. I’m on a pretty crazy deadline on BATWOMAN, nearing completion on construction on a building project, AND prepping for PLANET COMICON in Kansas City. With all of that, I’ve had more than one instance of “What day is this?”. Still, I managed to take a little time and sit down for a Dino Day doodle.
Today’s drawing was based on a small sketch I did last fall at Cincy Comicon’s Cincinnati Museum Center Drink and Draw. It was done on 6x6in vellum 300 series Strathmore Bristol Board with brush and ink.
I don’t work with the brush very often. Most of my work is done with crow quill nibs or Micron pens. This was a fun, loose experiment.
Now…it’s back to the drawing table for me. …well…after some coffee.
See you next week!

CONVENTION EXCLUSIVE T-SHIRTS!
Since it’s an all new convention season, I thought I’d do something completely fun and different this year. I’m doing a limited run t-shirt I’m calling “The Bat”. The tees are being printed on ultra soft, 50/50 poly-cotton blend, American Apparel brand shirts. They’ll be available in sizes XS to 2X for $20.00 each.
I’ll be debuting the shirt next weekend, March 14-16 at PLANET COMICON in Kansas City.
Supplies WILL be limited at the show, so if you’re interested in one and would like to guarantee getting it in your size, drop me an email and pre-order one at– firstname.lastname@example.org
Hope to see you at Planet!

DINO DAY 5!
Is it Dino Day again? I’m a little off this week. With another snowstorm over the weekend and then the boys at home from school on Monday, I spent a few days wondering what day of the week it was. Needless to say, I got it figured out in time to do another fun Dino Day drawing.
I asked the boys which dinosaur I should draw this week and Owen said I should draw a velociraptor. Well, two of them.
With the two dinosaurs, this one took about an hour to finish. It was done on 6x6in vellum 500 series Strathmore Bristol board with a Hunt 102 crowquill nib pen, brush, and Yasutomo sumi ink.
I’m really happy with the way this one came out. It was a lot of fun. Kind of tempted to make a t-shirt out of it…
So there you have it– Dino Day 5. I think I’m doing pretty good keeping up with this…even on weeks when I’m mostly unsure of what day it is.
I’ll be back with more Dino Day fun next week. See you then!

PLANET COMICON COMMISSION PRE-ORDERS!
I’m opening up my commission list for this year’s PLANET COMICON, March 14-16 in Kansas City, Missouri!
As I’ve mentioned before, due to my workload I’m no longer able to accept commissions outside of conventions. If you’re interested in getting a commission from me, this is the way to do it.
Since the list fills up fast, I’m opening my list for show pre-orders. As usual, I’ll be doing 9×12 bust shots of the character of your choice, in ink and Copic Marker on Strathmore drawing board or in your sketchbook of similar size for $60.
I’m ALSO taking FOUR 9×12 full figure commissions of the character of your choice for $150. I’m ONLY going to be able to do these full figure commissions as pre-orders. In order to sketch for everyone on the day, I won’t be able to take full figure commissions at the show.
If you’d like to arrange a commission, please contact me at email@example.com.

Well it’s “Con Season” again! I’m limiting the number of shows this year—last year was fun, but exhausting. I have several projects in the works, and want to be sure I can stay up on them! We will be attending a couple new shows as well as attending several great shows again.
Here is a list of the shows I’ll be hitting over the next few months–
Planet Comicon (Kansas City) March 14-16
Emerald City Comicon (Seattle) March 28-30
Heroes Convention (Charlotte) June 20-22
Florida Supercon (Miami) July 3-6
I’m going to be at all of these shows with the usual goodness– comics, trades, sketchbooks, and several prints. I’ll also have a ton of original artwork from Batwoman, Riddler, Ra’s Al Ghul, Red Hood, The Darkness, Arkham Reborn, Artifacts, and more. Along with that we’ll have cool Bad Karma stuff — prints, t-shirts, stickers, artwork, etc.
As always, I’ll be doing commissions at the show. All sketches will be done on 9×12 board or comparable sized sketchbook, in pen and ink with Copic Marker color. If you’d like to set something up before hand, let me know and I’ll do my best to arrange it.
So yeah, it’s going to be a busy spring. The fall is going to be full too, but more on that later.
Hope to get to see you at one of the upcoming shows!
