Here is the final shot featuring these few panels. This time you can see it with the blacks filled in. This part is kind of the lazy bit for me. After going in and doing all of the ink linework, I turn the page over to my assistant and they go in and spot all of the blacks for me. I’m pretty meticulous about where everything needs to go. They follow along the areas based on where I’ve shaded on the page during the pencils stage. It may seem like a simple thing, but it still takes a steady hand, patience, and talent on their end.
It’s hard for me to turn over any aspect of my artistic process to anyone else. Having someone come in and fill for me saves me a lot of time and allows me to focus on the actual drawing. It’s a nice time saving step that keeps the process running smoothly.
So there you have it. Hope you enjoyed this little desk shot process series. It was kind of fun to do. Look for more desk shots soon!
